Beef Vindaloo - George Bush Blames Burma for Rising Food Prices
May 9th, 2008 Popularity: 24% [?]Barely a week after American President blamed India’s middle class for eating too much and causing a global rise in food prices, Bush has now said that the cyclone in Burma could further affect food prices. Bush said that since the United States would be forced to help deliver aid and food rations to the cyclone hit areas, it would result in a shortage in food for domestic consumers leading to further price rises. This, coupled with the fact that most Americans are losing their houses on an unprecedented fast rate, Bush believes that there is no way that Senator John McCain could lose the upcoming elections.
“There is a saying in Texas,” Bush said, “if there is only one cow in the herd, you get your own steak ready before you give one to Bubba.” Bush said that he did not think there was anything wrong in his honesty and believed that the biggest misunderstandings have been because leaders have not learnt to be honest. “There’s another saying in Texas and this one is the most that’s probably most appropriate for the moment,” he said, “everyone else might be fooled by you but my Mama won’t and what my Mama wants is what my Mama gets.” When asked why Bush has announced so much aid and criticised the Burmese junta for not accepting the aid if he is indeed so fearful of a food crisis, he replied, “always remember, like they say in Texas, you and Bubba ain’t gonna eat the entire steer are you, there’s always enough for Cousin Jimbo.”
It is unclear now whether Bush will actually go ahead with the aid package. There have been murmurs from within party circles and from around the United States about his statements. Senior Political Analyst James Koomaramangamalam believes that Bush might have added an interesting twist to the issue. “If you consider what he said, note the fact that he is planning on sending food aid to a country that has just like nearly 90,000 people,” he said, “I am not exactly sure who he thinks will eat all that food in the first place.” With Discovery Channel warning of further cyclones, the American public might do well to hoard some food on their own.
