Independent American production house, Frontline Films, has announced plans to produce a rags to riches sports film called Thigh Attack. The film, based on the Indian sport of kabaddi would be modelled around successful sports glory movies like Dodgeball and Blades of Glory. The all-star lineup of actors would also be a bit of a family affair with all the Baldwin brothers, Wilson brothers and Wayans brothers announcing their decision to be part of the film. The film would be filmed on location in California in a giant sound studio that would be remodelled to look like the slums of India.

“Its going to be the mother of all sports movies,” said actor Luke Wilson, “its about a group of kids growing up in the slums of India who are shunned because of the colour of their skin so they fight back in a peaceful way – by qualifying for the Olympics Kabaddi team.” The film aims to highlight the differential treatment faced by white and black children in the slums of India. “Just because these kids are not brown does not mean they should be treated any different,” Wilson said, “they’re just as dumb and dirty as the rest of them.” The film also aims to highlight a kind of protest that is unique to India. “India is the only country that carries out non-violent protests,” Wilson said, “the world would learn a lot from this movie about Indian culture.”

Initially planned for a release just before this year’s Olympic Games, the project faced several challenging problems including protests by Hindu groups in the United States who were concerned that India would be portrayed in a negative light. “We wanted everyone to be 100% sure of the film before we took it on the floor so we allowed these guys to even read the script,” Wilson said. The film is now planned for a release in time for the Commonwealth Games and production would commence by the end of this year.
